Today’s video and sensor technologies have reached a stage where surveillance sensors are becoming prevalent in commercial or military establishments, promising to have significant impact on a broad range of applications. However, new problems arise from the wide spread use and proliferation of sensor systems. Most significant is the human ability (or lack thereof) to successfully fuse and comprehend the information that arrays of sensors can provide. Our patent pending AVE (Augmented Virtual Earth) Video Fusion technology offers innovative solutions for effectively modeling, visualizing, and presenting the diverse data gathered by multiple sensors in our 3D world in order to promote dynamic event detection, understanding, and comprehension.
AVE Video FusionTM technology combines all the sensing data of 3D geospatial models, aerial and terrestrial imagery, live or recorded videos and dynamic sensor alarm/status designators in a unified 3D view to produce a concise, coherent, and non-conflicting 4D representation for time-space interpretation of real world activity, thereby aiding human comprehension and decision-making.
Unlike the traditional surveillance systems that display 2D videos or images on separate windows/screens, thereby providing no integration of information, no high-level scene comprehension, and no situational awareness, our AVE visualization technology refers to the display of the multiple streams as an accurate, detailed, simultaneous 3D composite view, which the user can view as desired and complete from arbitrary viewpoints. For example, the user can view all of the scene imagery live (or recorded) from any convenient vantage point, such as any user-desired left, right, center, wide angle, close up, top down or bottom up view, or combination. This 3D composite view of all the video imagery in the context of a 3D scene model greatly enhances the user’s field of vision, comprehension of activities, assessment of activities, and responses to activities.
AVE Video FusionTM technology is particularly suited to addressing the challenging problems posed by the wide-area surveillance systems involving many cameras and sensors to cover complex sites such as military bases, government facilities, airports, rail stations, borders, coastlines, harbors, power plants, and commercial infrastructure.
